Matthew 5:13-16

Jesus describes His disciples as the salt of the earth and the light of the world. In this passage, He explains how Christians are to live in the world as people whose lives have been transformed by the gospel.

Salt preserves what is good, and light exposes what is true. Christians serve as a preserving influence by resisting unrighteousness and living according to God's Word. As lights in the darkness, they proclaim the truth, expose sin, and call others to repentance. This witness is not intended to bring attention or glory to ourselves, but to demonstrate the new life we have received in Christ.

The Christian's calling is not simply to be a good person or to blend into the surrounding culture. Rather, we are to live openly as disciples of Jesus Christ, allowing our good works to point others to the glory of our Father in heaven.
