Psalm 105

Psalm 105 calls God’s people to remember and praise the Lord for His mighty works throughout history. Walking through the lives of Abraham, Joseph, Israel in Egypt, and Israel in the wilderness, this sermon traces God’s covenant faithfulness and sovereign hand at work in every generation. Even through famine, slavery, hardship, and wandering, God was actively accomplishing His purposes and keeping His promises.

This sermon explores four major reminders of God’s faithfulness:

• God’s Faithfulness to Abraham — God protected Abraham and preserved His covenant promises despite human weakness and failure.

• God’s Faithfulness to Joseph — God sovereignly used suffering, slavery, and imprisonment to accomplish His greater purposes.

• God’s Faithfulness in Egypt — Through the Exodus and mighty acts of judgment, God demonstrated His power and delivered His people.

• God’s Faithfulness in the Wilderness — God continued to guide, provide for, and sustain His people after rescuing them.

Ultimately, Psalm 105 points beyond Israel’s history to Jesus Christ, the fullest demonstration of God’s faithfulness. Jesus is the true Bread from Heaven, the Rock who gives living water, and the fulfillment of God's promises. Remembering God’s faithfulness in the past strengthens our confidence in His faithfulness today and moves us to praise Him and make His works known among the nations.
